Playful City USA

To earn the designation of Playful City USA, a community must meet the five commitments laid out in the program. Together, the five commitments below create a framework for a successful agenda on play.

1. Create a Local Play Commission Task Force (learn more)
2. Design an annual Action Plan for play (learn more)
3. Conduct a Playspace Audit of all publicly accessible play areas (learn more)
4. Identify current spending on capital projects and maintenance of playspaces (learn more)
5. Proclaim and Celebrate an annual “Play Day” (learn more)

With this designation the City of San José takes its rightful place as a national role model leading the way for play. And as a municipality you gain the recognition you deserve for believing in the power of play as a means for growing the next generation of healthy and productive adult.
