  1. Can I make a reservation for a picnic? 

  2. Not in neighborhood parks. The picnic areas are non reservable They are on a first come, first served basis. Parks may sometimes be reserved for a major community-serving public event, requiring a special permit, but not for private parties.

    However, San José Regional Parks does have picnic areas which are reservable.  Please call (408) 27PARKS (277-2757) for more information. 

     

  3. What are park hours?

  4. Neighborhood parks are open from sunrise to one hour after sunset.

     

  5. What is the address of a given park?

  6. Parks do not have addresses. They are located by cross streets, or a street and landmark. If a community center is located on a park, the park may be associated with that address. For a listing of park cross streets, visit our Park List

     

  7. Can I have an air jumper at a neighborhood park?

  8. Only one air jumper per park, per day is allowed in most neighborhood parks.  Air jumpers are prohibited at Willow Street Frank Bramhall Park, Saratoga Creek Park, and St. James Park.  To obtain authorization and permission, please call (408) 27PARKS (277-2757). New guidelines.

     

  9. Does a given park have restrooms, picnic tables, barbecues, playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, softball field, soccer field, or exercise course?

  11. Is alcohol allowed?

  12. Not in neighborhood parks. San José Regional parks allow alcohol with a special permit.

     

  13. Can I reserve a sports field?

  14. Yes. Sports fields are reservable with Citywide Sports Field Reservations at (408) 369-3907.

     

  15. What is the policy on dogs? Leash law? Does San José have a dog park?

  16. The San José Municipal Code dog ordinance states that dogs must be on leash and kept under control at all times. Dog owners/walkers are required to immediately clean up and remove all excrement of their dog.

    San José has two dog park, Miyuki Dog Park and Watson Dog Park.  The Miyuki Dog Park is located in south San José at the end of Miyuki Drive, next to George Page Park. Miyuki Drive crosses Santa Teresa Blvd. between Cottle Road and San Ignacio Avenue. The Watson Dog Park located between east Jackson and north 22nd Street is closed, until further notice.  The City is also planning to have more dog parks.   17. Where can I report a park maintenance concern?

  21. How do I contact other public park agencies?

  23. Are water slides or dunk tanks allowed in neighborhood parks?

  24. No. The excessive water and activity damages the turf.

     

  25. Are ponies allowed?

  26. No. Large animals damage the turf and leave a mess.

     

  27. Can I bring my own barbecue to a park?

  28. Personal BBQ's are allowed to be brought in at parks where cooking areas already exist, and are to be kept within these areas for safety purposes.  Charcoal is to be extinguished and disposed of properly and safely after using.  Barbeques/cooking is NOT allowed at Lincoln Glen and Parma Parks.   

     

  29. Can I bring my own portable restroom?
    No. The use of private portable restrooms is prohibited in neighborhood parks.
