Dog Parks

Butcher Dog Park

Butcher Dog Parkis located in Butcher Park at Camden Ave. & Lancaster Dr, on the Camden Street side. Butcher is one our most popular dog parks drawing visitors from all over the Bay Area. The Park is noted for its lively and dedicated patrons who work together with park staff to keep Butcher Dog Park at its best.

Delmas Dog Park

Delmas Dog Parklocated on the corner of Park Avenue & Delmas Avenue, is a free-standing park. The park measures just over 17,000 square feet and includes many dog-friendly amenities: a completely fenced and double-gated entrance, decomposed granite walking path with bark-mulch dog area, tables and benches, drinking fountains with dog bowls, plenty of security lighting, and mutt mitts. Delmas was a joint venture between the City of San José and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA); it offers a safe space for the neighborhood and its four-legged residents.

Fontana Dog Park

Fontana Dog Park is located at Golden Oak Wy & Paseo Pueblo Dr. opened September 17, 2005.

Miyuki

miyukiMiyuki San Jose’s first dog park is located at the end of Miyuki Drive off Santa Theresa Boulevard. This small dirt area is fenced with a double-gated entry and includes a bench for owners to sit and enjoy their dogs at play. Miyuki also features a pooper-scooper dispenser for your convenience. Be sure to bring water for your dog, as there are no fountains available.

Olinder

Olinder is located within Selma Olinder Park, 18th St @ E. William St, on a three-quarter-acre site at the south end of the park. It is designed to accommodate 20 to 30 dogs at one time and the surfacing consists mainly of wood chips and decomposed granite. Olinder’s pet-friendly amenities include a double-gated entry, separate large and small dog areas, fencing and benches, fitting within the guidelines of the City’s Greenprint for Parks and Community Facilities and Programs. Mature trees provide valuable shade for both dogs and their owners. The dog park also includes 11 new parking spaces specifically for dog park users.

Raleigh Linear

Raleigh Linear Dog Park is located in Raleigh Linear Park (a 5.4 acre park) at the end of Raleigh Road south west of Charlotte Road.  The fenced dog park has dissolved granite and artificial turf surfaces, includes a 4 seat table and 2 benches. As this park was a turnkey development project the park was “built out” per the turnkey park development requirements and no further development is planned for.  There is one double swing gate at the facility; however, one side is typically locked and opened only for maintenance use.

Ryland Dog Park

Ryland Dog Park located at N San Pedro St. @ N. Market St tucked beneath the bridge. It’s a cool area spot on hot days. Be sure to bring water for your dog, as there are no fountains available.

Saratoga Creek

saratogaSaratoga Creek is located at Doyle Rd. & Lassen Ave and includes a drinking fountain, benches and artificial turf surfacing.

Watson Dog Park - Re-Opening Aug. 27th

Watson Dog Park located within Watson Park at East Jackson & 22nd Street

Watson Park Grand Re-Opening: On Saturday, August 27th the community surrounding Watson Park will be hosting a grand re-opening event for Watson Park at 22nd and Jackson Streets. The park has been closed since 2005 as a result of the discovery of refuse materials uncovered during excavation on the site. The newly remediated and re-opened 35 acre park features a large open turf area, dog parks for both small and large dogs, two lighted soccer fields, a playground, basketball courts, a restroom and plenty of parking. The event will begin at 10am.

Other off-leash locations in the area

Hellyer County Park is located in south San Jose, has set aside two acres inside the park as an off-leash area for dogs. This designated “dog park” can be found at the northeast end or Hellyer Park, near the Shadowbluff group area. This two-acre area is enclosed with a six-foot fence. Benches, shade trees, a lawn, and a drinking fountain are available. Use of the area is free, but a vehicle entrance fee is collected when you enter the park. The dog park is open every day but Wednesday.

Dog park rules & policies

  • Dogs must be accompanied at all times
  • No more than two dogs per person are allowed at one time
  • Children are only permitted in the dog park when accompanied by a guardian
  • Owners are responsible for picking up after their dog
  • All dogs must wear proof of license and have proper vaccinations
  • Dogs in heat are not permitted in the park
  • Dogs exhibiting bad or aggressive behavior will be required to leave the park
  • San Jose Code 13.44.020
