Alum Rock Park

Park Hours are 8:00 a.m. until one-half hour after sunset. | Park Closed Mondays | Park Rules
Park Open Memorial Day, July 5th and Labor Day

pic1Alum Rock Park is filled with picnic areas, some with barbeques. Many are large enough to be reserved for large parties and company events. Call area code 408-794-7275 for reservation information.

Many of the trails have resting areas available. While some trails run at a slight incline, be aware that many of the trails have steep inclines and good walking shoes are recommended.

The Ramada picnic area includes a covered shelter that can be reserved for small groups and is located just feet away from the Information Center and restrooms.

There are two play lots for children, this lot pictured has tot swings an is for smaller children. The other play lot is much larger and full of more play equipment for older children. Both are located on either side of the visitor center.

The speed limit is 15 mph, and for good reason. You will find bikes, hikers, horses and autos around blind curves in the road. We ask you to maintain 15mph throughout the park and slow down for speed bumps.

During the summer and fall months there are fire hazards. A few days each year, activities, such as, barbecuing will be restricted or the park will be closed, if there is a high fire danger. Call the ranger office for an update at 408-259-5477.

There are some auto turnouts along the road as you are driving through the park. Please park in designated parking lots. Handicap parking spots are offered in all the lots. Please remember to display your handicap placard.

Our maintenance staff do an outstanding job at keeping Alum Rock Park clean and orderly. We need your help too. Please use trash cans, as they are located throughout the park.
