Emma Prusch Farm Park

Park Hours are 8:00 a.m. until one-half hour after sunset. | Park Closed Mondays

emma pruschIn the midst of a bustling city, visitors to Emma Prusch Farm Park experience a bit of San José's rich agricultural past. San José's largest barn is home to everything from sheep, pigs and steer to ducks, chickens, geese and rabbits. The park also features vintage farm equipment, robust community gardens, a rare fruit orchard and acres of open grass perfect for picnicking, kite flying, games and relaxing. Take fun gardening, landscaping and cooking classes throughout the year and don't miss the cultural and harvest festivals.

Emma Prusch cherished her dairy farm, originally an 86 acre site. In her generosity she deeded the property to the City of San José in1962 to be enjoyed as a working farm in the center of a busy city. Miss Prusch specifically requested that the land keep its country feeling, preserving the quality of the Santa Clara Valley that she remembered, when trees and animals were more prominent than houses, freeways and shopping centers. Of the original gift, eleven acres became home of the Police Activities League (P.A.L.) for youth sports, and 47 acres were dedicated in 1962 as Emma Prusch Farm Park.

The park offers a variety of educational programs for school children and other groups, and hosts a Summer Camp during the months of June - August. For a free brochure on the educational programs offered at Prusch Park, call us at (408)926-5555 or visit www.sanjoseca.gov/prns and hit the Citywide Activity Guide brochure for updated information.

On park closure days, visitors, joggers and picnickers will be unable enter the selected sites and Los Alamitos trail users will be advised of an alternative route.
